Our natural habitat will decrease in number if contaminated materials are washed down our waterways. Construction job sites are a large contributor to contaminate materials in our streams, lakes, ponds, rivers and oceans. Five million tons of concrete washout material is generated each year. The residue and contaminants from washing down equipment such as concrete trucks, pumps, mixers, chutes and tools is discharged directly into the local storm drains. Concrete residue is not be taken lightly and considered as strong a contaminate to waterways as Liquid Drano. Our natural habitat can not live in these hazardous conditions.

Stepping up the human responsibility to keep our waterways clean, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are requiring contractors and developers to keep a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP). The SWPPP must also be compliant with the National Pollution Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES). Together these government agencies, contractors, developers, environmental groups and inspectors are taking on the responsibility to keep our waterways clean of concrete pollution.
